A selection of our client work for large companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, National Grid, Interserve, and Informa.
Envirtual were engaged by a FTSE 250 organisation to undertake transformation planning for a new division of the company that had acquired a public facing service operation.
The client had bid and won a tender to privatise a number of public sector organisations. Their vision was to integrate these organisations and form a new division to improve efficiency and to transform the services through IT enabled innovation.
Our client recognised that there was both an immediate and longer term challenge to take on the existing operations in parallel with developing a target operating model and roadmap of change that would modernise, mobilise and improve the services as a whole.
Additionally, the terms of the transition meant there was a very short timescale in which to conduct assessments of the existing organisations before service take-on and manage the complex stakeholder community.
Envirtual mobilised rapidly to support the programme and deliver a quality target architecture and transformation plan. Specifically Envirtual provided an experienced, and appropriately security-cleared team to quickly complete IT Due-diligence, created a technology service transition plan, and technology transformation plan to deliver an enduring technology architecture, operating model, economies of scale & benefits.
Due diligence was completed rapidly with identified points of negotiation for contract closure. Key infrastructure and application innovation opportunities and constraints were identified to enable a costed programme plan to be developed and to enable IT and business benefits realisation from the acquisition transformation.
Envirtual were engaged by an international publisher to design and build a world class technology environment to support new ways of working across their campus
The objective was to create a technology environment that would be attractive to current and future employees, provide a platform to showcase their digital products and services, and improve productivity and customer service through more collaborative working.
An overall transformation programme had been established and new technology had to integrate with construction, facilities management and human resources to enable the changes required to move to new styles and ways of working.
Our client had little experience of workplace technology strategy and so we worked as an extension of their CTO team – running the technology transformation workstream and governance, and working with their in-house staff on defining solutions, selecting and managing technology implementation partners, and supporting the transition to live operations.
We applied the Envirtual Shape, Create, Evolve methodology to help define the vision, technology architecture and sourcing options, then engaged technology partners with suitable capabilities to deliver the platforms and services required to provide an end-end solution.
Our deliverables included ‘build vs buy’ and cloud assessments; the execution of an accelerated procurement process, project and programme management of multiple workstreams, and transition support.
The Envirtual team provided deep workplace transformation experience and guidance, strong stakeholder management and quickly became an integral part of the overall transformation team delivering a world class working environment.
As a result our client was quickly able to move to collaborative ways of working and innovation in the way technology was consumed, with reduced risk, and a more engaged workforce.
Strategic Technology Planning
Envirtual were engaged by a FTSE 250 Facilities support services & construction company to undertake a review of their application portfolio and develop a roadmap for change to support their growth strategy for the next 5 years.
The client had recently defined an ambitious 5 year business strategy and required an enterprise architecture review and roadmap to fully support its growth plans.
Our client recognised that their existing business systems required significant consolidation following several acquisitions, but lacked the tools and methods to define the future state architecture, approach, prioritisation and timing of replacement business systems.
Due to the specialist security requirements cloud technologies were viewed as unworkable, however there was an appetite to understand more.
We applied our Application Portfolio Review methodology in three phases. The first was to work with business divisions to produce a common capabilities reference model as well as agreeing business strategy and outcomes. We subsequently defined the strategic principles for the organisation’s approach to technology.
In the second phase of the work we used various methods and tools to discover every application currently being used by the business and by ‘shadow IT’. This produced a detailed catalogue of information including value and technical condition of each application. We finally created a 5 year enterprise roadmap detailing a target state architecture for each business capability to enable the client to meet their strategic objectives.
The support Envirtual provided was invaluable providing the Executive Team with all the information and analysis they required to make key decisions on strategic principles, shadow IT estate size, investment prioritisation, and timing of replacement of core Business Systems.
Digital Revenue Enhancement
Envirtual helped an international media rights company to identify and design a solution to stream live sports content globally
Our client’s objective was to develop a scalable, live streaming and video content management service to drive their digital product and service growth by enabling diverse sports events to reach a wider audience.
Extensive customer focused support, analytics and reporting functionality were required to improve understanding of customer viewing habits and allow content to be tailored to enrich the customer experience.
The end-to-end global latency associated with ‘live broadcast to mobile device’ was absolutely critical to the commercial viability of the solution – too much latency and the stream would not be considered to be ‘live’. A streaming service that could deliver high volume, high quality, low latency streams required the integration of best-of-breed market capabilities, and the extensive use of cloud technologies.
The Envirtual Source & Select methodology helped define the vision, architecture and end-to-end solution, and to evaluate vendors with suitable capabilities to deliver the platform. Our deliverables included a build vs buy & cloud assessment; the execution of an accelerated procurement process including the development of a comprehensive RFP & analysis of bids; technical support and operational diligence on key supplier offerings; and contracting and transition support.
Envirtual delivered an outcome at pace and with rigour by bringing technical, commercial and sourcing discipline to help identify, select and contract with the right technology partners.
Managed Services Time to Market
Envirtual were engaged, by a leading managed services and cloud platform provider, to create an Enterprise Technology Architecture Roadmap aligned to a new Company Strategy
Our client had revised its company vision and business strategy and required an Enterprise Technology Architecture Roadmap to be developed. The aim being to enable a company wide change programme, to take full advantage of the fast developing cloud environment to drive faster benefit delivery.
Our client knew that their existing business systems required replacement, and recognised that they lacked the in-house experience, tools and methods to define the right future state architecture to take full advantage of the latest business opportunities in the fast changing changing cloud environment.
Envirtual applied its Shape, Create, Evolve methodology to understand quickly the business strategy, objectives and capabilities, as well as assess the current state architecture. The key gaps were identified and prioritised for investment. Options for the future state enterprise architecture and roadmaps were developed, describing the evolution of the architecture over time, including key dependencies and constraints and delivery of benefits.
Envirtual’s support was instrumental in helping the leadership team of the company to agree the overall approach, prioritisation, and timing of the replacement of the core business systems, improving time to market and reducing cost.
Transforming Digital Customer Experiences
Envirtual were engaged by a major international media company to review the technology architecture of the digital publishing platform as a first step towards transforming digital customer experiences
Our client is well placed to achieve digital growth, with many online brands, millions of visitors to its websites and ambitious plans to drive the transformation of its digital business. However, it was felt that the current technology platform required change to deliver significantly enhanced customer experiences and insight and hence the required revenue growth.
The digital team had very aggressive short-term delivery targets and had little or no capacity to step back and take the time to review or assess its longer term needs.
Envirtual worked with the existing team using its Shape, Create, Evolve methodology to evaluate the digital platform in terms of scalability and capability to enable growth. The maturity of the architecture, applications, operations and solution delivery model was assessed using the Envirtual Digital Reference Model.
Envirtual’s highly experienced digital team was able to deliver rapidly an objective assessment of the current state of the technology that was in place. The team was also able to develop critical insights at speed, quickly identifying the options for improvement:
- greater capacity to build and operate the current properties
- improve service levels
- deliver insights to improve the customer experience
- launch and scale new properties
